1976 was an important year - full of landmark events, achievements and promises delivered. It was the year MAPP began offering high quality recruitment services to the IT industry as it emerged not only as a key functional area in every business but as an industry in its own right. Then, there were very few third party suppliers of IT skills, now there are many - but over the three decades and more MAPP has continuously provided high quality contract and permanent staff to clients, large and small, in both Public and Private sectors.

Not very many years on from IBM's world market estimate for computing as comprising only a handful of potential customers, all such forecasts had proved comically false as the sector grew apace. IT shifted rapidly from the preserve of technical specialists and, frankly, fragile mainframes - to becoming the industry that all others relied upon implicitly. Each new wave of technical development increased the demand for skilled people and MAPP was there through it all. The IT landscape changed again when the era of the networked desktop PC dawned; now everyone had a computer on their desk. But, no matter how impressive and sophisticated the technology became, IT was always (and will remain) a business that is as much about people as machines.
