Job Purpose/Summary: The role will to lead the day to day running of the technical operations team for one of the UK's leading film and broadcast post-production facilities, on a permanent basis, which includes all Media Operators that work across the dispatch, data IO, machine control room (MCR) and edit support/conform functions. The role has 3 direct reports: The data Coordinator; Conform Editor and Senior Media Operator. The role will be responsible for developing and leading a multi-functional, multi skilled technical operations team. For driving change within the operation to continually strive to make operational and technical improvements that deliver a first class agile and flexible service to support the Company’s creative teams and clients. Key responsibilities will involve effectively scheduling the media operations team, their work, time and equipment to ensure day to day efficient running and service delivery of the department. To oversee the logistics of all deliverables, raw physical and digital materials that pass into, through and out of the company, tape/other media duplication encoding and digitising services. To ensure ongoing technical support to the Company’s edit, audio and other suites. Line management responsibilities for a technical operations team of circa 15 headcount, supported by team leaders who are SMEs in particular areas- Edit Support; Dispatch; Data IO and MCR. Duties and Responsibilities: • Responsible for leading the team and enabling development and training of team members to achieve multi-skilling and to move towards a one-shift operation that covers the hours required to support the business as agreed with the PPM and Bookings team. • To work with the Senior Media Operator, Data Coordinator and Conform Editor to deliver the above within 3-4 months of being in post. • To work alongside the Technical Solutions and Project Manager and DI Manager to support the Director of Operations to deliver a first class operational service to the creative, sales and client base. • Work with the Technical Solutions Project Manager and QC Specialist to examine technical specifications and advise the Post Production Managers on the items that are required to meet their delivery schedule. • To advise on the most efficient processes for all aspects of the technical operations department and deliver improvements where inefficiencies exist. • To plan adequate staff cover and access to technical/operational facilities to facilitate current and future work and ensure Ceta is kept up-to-date with shift patterns and leave. • Escalate any concerns to senior management and ensure that management are promptly alerted to any deficiencies in the Company’s deliverables or Operations service that may result in negative feedback or financial penalties for the company. • Ensure operational staff’s skills are kept current and relevant to changing technologies and workflows • Recruitment of operational staff in consultation with Team Leads, Director of Operations and HR • Work closely with the technology support and solutions team to ensure operations staff have the right systems to effectively perform their roles. Identify system performance issues, devise improvements and help implement solutions • Procurement of library/despatch materials and services (including tape and other stock, bike and International delivery services). Price Review and negotiation of these goods & services. • Library vault planning and maintenance including re-evaluation & consolidation of all media assets • To ensure stock/materials used is logged and billing data is passed to the relevant PPMs • Manage, track and report issues across the technical operations team and implement a continuous improvement process to rectify any problems or lessons learnt. • To drive recruitment and performance management of the Technical Operations Department. • Provide weekly reports to the Director of Operations and hold regular meetings with peers and team leads as well as Sales and the head of Post Production. • Delegate and supervise appropriate tasks and responsibilities to the team leads and conform editor. • Build and maintain relationships with suppliers, contractors, freelancers and other post houses. ou will need to be qualified to work in the UK at application.
